1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect on pathshalaschool.com and in the Pathshala Android application (package com.ssb.pathshala), why we collect it, and how we protect it. Google Play reviewers and families should read this page before using the app.

We use information only to run the school: teaching, attendance, examinations, fees, communication, and campus administration. We do not sell student or parent data, we do not show third-party advertising, and we do not use the app for marketing to children.

2. Who we are

Pathshala is the digital campus of our CBSE-affiliated school at Thakurgaon, Near Bank More, Ranchi Road. The app and website are provided for enrolled students, their parents or guardians, and authorised staff.

3. Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the school. Information may be entered by the school office, a parent during admission, or a signed-in student or teacher.

• Account details: name, mobile number, email, login credentials, role (student, parent, teacher, or staff), and branch.
• Student records: admission details, class and section, attendance, homework, examinations, report cards, and house assignment.
• Photographs and IDs: profile photos, school gallery images, ID cards, certificates, and documents uploaded by the school or parent.
• Fees and payments: fee structure, dues, receipts, and payment references processed through our authorised payment gateway (for example Razorpay).
• Device basics: app version and a sign-in token stored on the device so you stay logged in. We do not collect precise location. We do not use advertising IDs.
• Camera (optional): used only when a teacher or staff member chooses to photograph a document. Photos are not taken in the background. You can refuse camera access; other features still work.

4. How we use information

• Create and manage student, parent, and staff accounts.
• Run attendance, homework, examinations, report cards, and the school calendar.
• Collect fees, issue receipts, and keep payment history for the family and the accounts office.
• Publish the campus gallery and generate ID cards or certificates when the school requests them.
• Share notices, documents, and academic updates inside the authorised branch only.
• Keep the app and website secure, fix errors, and show you the correct campus data.

5. Pathshala mobile app (Google Play)

The Android app Pathshala (package com.ssb.pathshala) connects to the same school server as this website. After login, it shows the information that belongs to your account and campus.

• Camera: asked only when staff capture a document photo. You can refuse; other features still work.
• Login on device: a secure token is stored on the phone so you do not sign in every time. It is cleared on logout.
• Internet: required to load your school data.

Play Store Data safety summary: account and student education data are collected; photos may be uploaded when a user chooses; data is used for app functionality and school administration; it is not sold; it is not used for advertising.

6. Children and student data

Many of our students are under 18. We treat their records as school education data, not as a consumer social profile. Accounts for young students are created by the school with parent or guardian knowledge.

• We do not knowingly use children’s data for advertising or profiling.
• Parents and guardians may request access, correction, or deletion of a child’s record through the school office.
• Gallery photos are published only by authorised school staff for that campus.
• We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) for school processing of personal data.

7. When we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only when needed to run the school:

• School staff who need it for teaching, accounts, or administration (limited to their campus).
• Payment gateway when a fee is paid online — only the details required to complete that payment.
• Hosting and infrastructure that store the school database and files under our control.
• Law or safety if we are legally required, or to protect a student or the school.

We do not share student lists with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated apps.

8. How we keep data safe

Access requires a signed-in school account. Traffic to the production site uses HTTPS. Files such as photos and documents are stored on school servers. Staff see only their own campus. Please keep your password private and tell the school office if you think an account was used without permission.

9. Your rights and account deletion

Subject to school and legal records rules, you may ask us to:

• Show what information we hold about you or your child.
• Correct inaccurate details (name, photo, contact number, address).
• Delete an account that is no longer needed, where the school is not required to keep the record.
• Withdraw consent for optional items such as a public gallery photo.

10. How long we keep information

We keep student and fee records for as long as the child is enrolled and for the period Indian school and tax rules require after leaving. Login tokens on a phone are removed when you log out or uninstall the app. Gallery and document files stay until the school removes them.
